In this decade, the field of global health is experiencing impressive growth and a rise in public awareness. As substantial progress has been made to improve the lives of people throughout the world, barriers continue to exist that impede progress, including a lack of access to health resources; social, cultural, and political inequities; and persistent economic disparities. However, education has proven to be one of the most effective investments to combat these barriers.
This conference’s goal is to bring students, faculty, staff, researchers, and community members together to discuss the ways that education can affect global health and call individuals and communities to action. The conference will frame Education and Action in six major subthemes:
· Clinical Care and Ethics
· Public Health Interventions: Interdisciplinary Approaches
· Education for a Global Health Workforce
· Innovation & Implementation
· Education and Health: Equity and Access
· World Health Cinema
Recognizing that health problems require interdisciplinary solutions, the conference presenters and attendees will explore different world-views, perspectives, and approaches. As local and global solutions converge, this conference aims to motivate individuals to implement the strategies and tools presented here to transcend health barriers in their communities, their countries, and throughout the world.
